SP/VSF Month: Modelling For Hippos Ishoo Ten: HMLS Jack Russell.

Ah, landships! Mightiest of the weapons of the Steampunk & VSF arsenal! Whether the Land Ironclads of HG Wells, the Landships of Ouargistan, or even the steam tanks of the Warhammer Empire, the landship is an iconic image, and rightly so! There are many steam tank and landship kits available, so why build one of your own? Well, you don't want to own the same landship as everyone else do you! And what is more, it's not a difficult task, although the riveting takes a while! HMLS Jack Russell, part of the Terrier Class, is an early light landship. As such it's fairly experimental, and was rapidly rendered obsolete in the Home Fleet, making it ideal for dispatching to the colonies!
For this project we've used:
  • 1mm and .5mm plasticard
  • 1mm plastic rod
  • Eureka hatches and gun barrel
  • A $2 shop toy truck and toy train
  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Eyelets (from Bunnings)
  • Heavy-duty jeans studs (from a craft store)
  • A few left over Robogear Spider parts
And here, to show how those things go together to make HM Landship Jack Russell is Chief Engine Room Artificer Grot Bag!

And now your magnificent iron beast is ready to paint, then crush your enemies! Rule Britannia!
Stand by for the next installment, when we'll be tackling rocky outcrops for your savage tribesmen to pour down from!

  1. I know this is an old post but a great how to build a VSF landship tutorial! Good looking tank to boot!

As you said who wants the same landship as everyone else (and no nasty resin to sand in yours)...

    Cheers!
